I knew I was going to do this sooner or later, but I just wasn’t ready, and the timing was never right for me. Either way, I had to brace myself and do it.
I watched as he stood on the other side of the room getting ready for me. With his device, he looked very ready, but I wasn’t, I felt tense all over and knots swarm in my stomach. I was so afraid he’d hurt me.
“Don’t be afraid dear, it won’t hurt you much” he said to me, looking directly into my eyes.
He turned off the bright lights and switched on the neons on the wall close to where I lay. As fear engulfed me, I started whispering incoherent prayer lines. Maybe I should have stayed back and not even come here in the first place, this felt wrong but the girls said it was worth it.
“Just a little blood and hurt and everything would be over.” They said to me, I wished it was that easy but they didn’t tell me fear was the first killer.
He sensed my panic and came closer, his eyes shone gloriously underneath the flashes of bubble-shaped shadows of the kaleidoscopic lamp. I was already in this and the least I could do was endure it all until the end. We hadn’t even started but I was already thinking of the end . What had I gotten myself into?
“Are you okay?” he asked with concern in his voice.
“Of course, why yes I am” I replied through my teeth. I had to be strong, no one forced me here in the first place.
While I was lost in my thought, he was already by my side, almost too close. He held his tool and examined me closely like a doctor would, like he was searching for something in my eyes and spoke. “Would you open up your mouth a bit dear?”
I swallowed my saliva and did I was told.
“A little wider, please” he said again.
He noticed my intense discomfort and grinned. He looked like he was having fun and before I knew it, he had already thrust into me. The way his tool tickled my tongue almost made me gag.
“Eissshh!” I exclaimed almost pulling his hands away but he started to work inside of my mouth.
His tool massaged and caressed every corner of my dentition. Gently pushing and pulling, working every corner of my mouth like needle in fabric.
“Relax or it’d hurt much” he said frowning.
I just nodded and relaxed, I needed to get out of here as fast I could.
In less than ten minutes, he had located the spot and pulled.
Then it came, I felt it; the most anticipated pain of the year… but it disappeared as fast as it came.
He smiled and looked at me, showing me a little blood stained tool. I was free though it did hurt a bit with a little blood, but that was all there was to it and there, my toothache was gone! He was my hero!
I was afraid I’d die of pain pulling out my teeth but this dentist made it pain free and now I could eat my meat and every kind of food I had missed for the past three weeks.
Unlike others, my first time wasn’t all that bad.
